Cannan Kindergarten (Riviera Garden) has held a flag-raising ceremony on 30th September, 2022. This ceremony was to commemorate and celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on 1st October, 2022. The flag-raising ceremony was led by the school principal. The principal has shared the celebrations to mark 73rd National Day and the etiquette of the flag-raising to all the teachers and children before the starting of the ceremony.

Upon hearing the national anthem, all teachers and children stood still, stayed silent and focused as they looked and sang along to the national anthem. Everyone were well disciplined. This ceremony allows children to further deepen their understanding of the importance in respecting the National flag and its etiquette hence bolstering the sense of belonging with the country. In addition to this, many different levels of event related games were prepared by the teachers on this day. The incorporating of fun and meaningful activities to children can provide greater knowledge and better understanding of Chinese Culture and its famous historical sites and scenic spots.

During the morning and afternoon assemblies on 29th September and 30th September, children obtained knowledge of the national flag, national emblem and regional flag through viewing pictures and PowerPoint presentations. They were also introduced the origin of the National Day and the conduct of a national flag raising ceremony. When the vice principal asked the children about matters relating to Chinese National Day, some of them could respond to the questions and share what they learned, indicating that they have had a preliminary understanding of the National Day. On the other hand, in participating the National Flag Raising Ceremonies conducted by their head teachers and teachers, children learned to stand solemnly and pay respectful attention to the national flag.

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, our kindergarten held the activity of the "Mid-Autumn Lanterns Carnival" on 9th September. Teachers and children sang nursery rhymes together, toured the campus with colourful lanterns and shared the joy of playing lantern riddles. With the strong festive atmosphere, they all enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Festival happily.
